Re: Engine swaps

I've just broken my 300TDi auto Discovery and was hoping to fit both the engine & box into my Marksman. Not enough room under the bonnet - would involve cutting back bulkhead to fit engine. Even if engine had fitted the length of autobox & transfer box would have meant a rear prop around 6" long :sh...

Re: Diff ratios

Thanks for replies. Yes I have a Marksman. 4.88 ratio isn't too bad as I'm going to use 16" wheels I'm considering a change of engine, gearbox & transferbox during the planned "roundtuit" rebuild. In theory it should be possible to mate a LDV 1.9 diesel engine with the matching R380 5 speed gearbox ...

Diff ratios

At 5.38:1 the standard diffs are a wee bit too low
Anyone ever changed the crownwheels and pinions to a better ratio ?
Are they standard "off the shelf" Dana 44 items or something that is unique to Mahindra ?

Cheers.

Re: Crash Any body got a Chassis or rolling Chassis

I think the moral of the story here is ensure you have agreed value insurance. That way in the event of a claim there is evidence etc already in place about how much it's worth rather than having to try and convince assessor who's job is to value as low as possible.

I couldn't do it !

I decided to sell the Mahindra Marksman and replaced it with a 300TDi auto Discovery. Over 6 months later the Mahindra is still sitting in the drive and I've realised I can't face getting rid  Plan now is to keep and fully restore idc. Body off and chassis galvanized before building from that ...

Mahindra Dana 18 same as US Dana 18 ?

Anyone know if the Dana 18 used by Mahindra is exactly the same as the Dana 18 used in millions of US model vehicles ?

Cheers.

KM-T90 gearbox - same as T98 ?

Is the KM-T90 gearbox the same as the Borg Warner T98 ? The original Jeep CJ3B used a 3 speed Borg Warner T90. That was supplemented but the 4 speed T98 was an option in later years. My old 1976 CJ5 had a T90 ! When people require parts, other than bearings, for a KM-T90 do they simply source items ...

Re: 1.9 gearbox ?

My thinking is if the 1.9 used the same gearbox then if I could borrow a bellhousing then I could easily get copies made for anyone who wanted to "upgrade" to the later type engine. I have a neighbour who owns a casting firm that has said no problem getting things done :)

Re: Just Stopped and Won't Start ???

Primer pump is normally on the fuel filter or sometimes an inline rubber "bulb" rather than on the pump.
Have you checked 12v getting to the stop solenoid on pump ?

Fitting 6 stud wheels !

I want some plain, rather than alloy or sculptured steel, wheels. Other than genuine Jeep items only option seems to be from US vans / trucks and of course that wouldn't be easy either. The other day I was looking at PCD adapters to allow fitment of Land Rover wheels and came across adapters to enab...

Mahindra's made / assembled in Germany ?

Today took our daily Skoda for an MOT and was talking to the tester. He used to work for the local Mahindra dealer and said he used to love outperforming Land Rovers at events to demonstrate their ability. He asked me if mine was Indian or German. Turns out they were popular enough in Germany that M...

Smoke gone

Decided to tackle the fuel system on my Marksman that has been standing at least 9 years. It was very reluctant to start and smoked like a knackered engine. Anyway using an old SU fuel pump sucked 25 litres of red diesel out of the tank via the fuel filter. Refilled with 10 litres of fresh diesel an...

Rear disc brakes

No success with the search function so can anyone tell me if a rear disc brake conversion is viable ?

Thanks
