Re: Getting a build date from the factory

Do you have Mahindra tractors in the UK? If you do, how about approaching a dealership and see if they can help by supplying a letter themselves, or through the chain of supply they use. I would imagine that any letter with "Mahindra & Mahindra" should do the trick. If this was over here, it would p...

Re: Getting a build date from the factory

Andy - can you get a close-up photo of your data plate? the date of manufacture is stamped directly above where the "COOLING" info is shown. if the date on the plate has been damaged - take the plate off [4 x screws] turn it over and carefully clean the back of the plate. on mine, after wiping it wi...

Re: Getting a build date from the factory

Is your official data plate missing?? should be a date on that. if you have chassis and engine numbers we can give a pretty good estimate. details from the official "MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA LTD." data plate on mine = model CJ-340DP-4WD chassis no. MBE 340 DP BK DM 25112 engine no. DM-25112 serial no. 37...

Re: differential locks on front wheels?

if you fit freewheeling hubs on the front axles - and leave them unlocked for extended periods there is the risk of your top king pin bearings running dry. The top kingpins rely on the turning axle to "sling" grease up onto the bearing. As for locking differentials - there is a crew in India making ...

Re: Model ident and wiring etc

Several of the blokes on this forum have done a "top-chop" to their mindies - to make WW2 jeep lookalikes, there is a fair chance they might have the discarded wiper arms stashed away. At least one forum member has removed the original wipers, wiper motor, and did what his missus referred to as a "m...

Re: Model ident and wiring etc

p.s. there should be a 40 litre diesel tank under the passenger seat, and a 20 litre under the drivers seat. the passenger tank is the main tank, and feeds directly to the filters and engine. the drivers tank is the reserve, and gets pumped into the main tank via a dashboard switch and electric pump...

Re: Model ident and wiring etc

virtually all parts are available from "Ahmed" who is based in India, his contact details are somewhere on this forum [someone will chime in and point you towards him]. Ahmed's prices are decent, and he has proven to be very reliable to many of us here. Yours looks to be the "Stockman" version - bas...

'Stockman" spec' seats, Does your mindie have the long tool box running behind the seats - between the wheel tubs?? Looks much like mine [except for the lack of in...

olde schoole looking mindy diff locks!!

Stumbled on this link, might not be "proper" olde schoole - but certainly looks like it! Cable operated Dana44 diff locks made in India, by Lamda. Since they are of India manufacture - I assume they fit our CJ340's, as they have DANA 44 diff's front and rear. No idea of how good they are, or what th...

Re: Diesel Tank

no pump in my tanks, I have seen damaged or rusted out fuel tanks in Tojo's, Zook's, Trolls and 1 x mindie replaced with plastic boat tanks - as used for outboard motors. Usually they were strapped to the floor of the tray, or over the rear wheel arch. A plastic boat tank has the advantage of a fuel...

Re: Stupidly high oil pressure!

well......that was a good idea while it lasted! LDV 400's were not (as far as I can determine) imported into Australia. I have been wracking my brains trying to help a fella on the other side of Australia - his CJ340DP engine is probably cactus. One of the cylinder head studs has snapped off and due...

Thanks,
