Re: CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER

Hi, Just to add my own experience replacing the self same part as monster. I spent ages going around the island here (malta), ended up with a Mitsubishi part (€50), I did not actually fit this myself. From what I could understand, the mechanic said he had to do a little modifying to get it to fit. (...

I'm impressed! Well done for keeping your eye on the ball, Alan. :clapping: We all appreciate the valuable information available on your great site, this a nice result from a web host who seems to care! Some small minded loser thinking he could steal at will from his dark corner vantage point. Good ...

Re: gear sticks

Comment good! I just separated two transfer cases:my Malta based 'cheif' version. (Is anything good on this example?)The original transfer case lever pin actually came out of its own accord, and slipped out of High range right in the middle of a descent! Now it's toast. As Chief mentioned, t...

Re: Large battery ?

I'll second Tim on getting batteries from Tayna.Bought one in Nov.for my Rover 600, painless transaction and best price around. Just a little spill of battery fluid in the packaging. My Mindy had a new battery fitted.About the only thing I haven't had to change (except engine and axles). :beg:

Re: dana 44 axles.

Hi, My CJ540 is still holed up in a British guys garage in Malta. Of interest to you is the previous Mahindra(they seem to collect around this garage-good!) in for repair couldn't source wheel bearings, so he CHANGED :banghead: the axles for Landrover(wider) ones. I think he was fed up of not findin...

Fellow Midlander,Greetings! In the south we are known as 'Northerners'... You'll find a great bunch on this site, have benefited from many good advice tips and solutions myself: issues ranging from broken gearbox to fitting front disc brakes as replacement to the awful drum config.. You are at the o...

Re: Alternative Engines/Boxes

Hi, Having fun with my own gearbox rebuild. Bought all the layshaft bearings and oil seals from Heather. Now it's together again I'm awaiting delivery from Heather of gearbox and engine mounts. If you want a clutch, Heather has a spare clutch disc, about £70. Rare as hen's teeth. I have a clut...

Re: Water pump

Hi,

If the pump is not too mullered, you can get a repair kit from Heather. I'm getting mine repaired-also a chunk from the outlet pipe will be welded back on.

Well it is Malta-fix or repair!

Regards,

Charles

Re: disk brake converson

Hi Kev, I agree with you about the rover setup-mine sits partway on disc,it brakes ok so i was a bit embarassed to mention. Will changing the calipers for sj be a straight swap or would I also need to get a new carrier plate fabricated-I noticed the span of the two mounting bolts on the carrier are ...

Thanks for clarifying matters Chief. :hello: Sorry to phil for confusion, but you did wonder out loud why no reply from other members. Re: disk brake converson

Hi Chieftan, What about the rover calipers?I bought a brand new set of rover 200 calis off e-bay for 1about £15,it turned out they were wrong,i reckon for solid discs? In the end i took my plate to the local scrapper and went through dozens of different 2nd hand cals. In end I think i ended up with a...

Re: 340 vs 540

Hi again, Just to add to chieftan, all things considered though, how much serious off roading would you be into for a CJ-340 to be necessary if you are considering space for kids? Surely a 340 is more suited to front passengers and highlifts and sand ladders strapped behind. Kids?Passengers? They wi...

As before in the previous incarnation of this website rover calipers for vented discs and suzuki discs for PCD clearance. BTW...
