Looking to buy, Problems to look out for?

Post by RayRedd » Sun Dec 03, 2017 12:07 pm

Hi there,

New to this site, and Mahindras.

Ive got the opportunity to purchase a 1994 Mahindra Indian chief, but being new to them don't know what to look out for!

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated, major things to avoid, problems that are easily fixed, that kind of thing.

The guys asking for £3000, its just gone through its MOT with 2 advisory's, play in the steering and a chip in the windscreen.

Thanks again!

Welcome RayRedd!

I will leave it to those more experienced than I to advise you, but the search function here is really useful.

You might find that the “play” is just how the steering is as it’s a vehicle designed in the 1950s. That said, mine is great fun

Hi Rick
Look for rot wings floor windscreen chassis are usually ok check exhaust
Check that the gearbox has gaiter l over the stick they can take in water if no roof
roof on long wheelbase cost more to change
check general items good oil pressure
Brakes work if got front disk bonus
if you are good with tool you should be ok
