I havent done nearly as much work as you.

I imagined mine would be on the road last summer. It wont be ready this year.

I blame work. I work shifts so I put in probably 1 or 2 mornings a week, and 1 weekend a month.

The problems ive had with paint have delayed things no end. I should have cut my losses and took all the front end parts to bare metal the first reaction I got.

Never mind, I need to stop myself from cutting corners because of impatience.

I painted the spare wheel to test some wheels.

I dont want to pay for new rims so I thought I would have a go at refurbishing the old steelies.

First I took off the old tyre and cut the valve off. Then sanded and primed the rim.

Then painted the face tan to match the body. Then masked and painted the centre satin black.

Finally but a valve in and a tyre on.
I needed a ratchet strap to allow the bead to seal.

It came out ok so ill probably have a go at the rest.

I will use thinner card to mask the wheel centre as the paint doesnt get right into the seam between the rim and centre.

Im going to silicone the seam anyway so it shouldnt be noticable

Thanks for the comments.

Another summer and ive hardly touched it. Work has a lot to answer for.

I got a full day in on Saturday. Started prepping for paint.
stopper paint prep.jpg
What looks flat isn't. There are high and low spots all over.

The dash is getting stripped ready for paint.
dash out again.jpg
I still need to do something about the glove box and the hole where the speedo used to be

I was thinking just screw some sheet over the holes. or make a glove box door from aluminium. The hole is bigger than the standard lid and a MB lid.

stripped the back end and what looked like a bit of a scab turned into 2 holes.
and I will need to cut the rear cross member.

ive got to redo the tops of the wings because of cracking in the body line and where the holes for the bonnet catches are.

The spare in 31" ive got some new 31 10.50 15 when i paint the other rims.

may I ask what the colour the paint is called
I spent most of my money on alcohol, women and old iron........ the rest of it I just wasted.
