Modification to my Brave - Engine, grill and fenders.

Post by magnarider0 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 11:37 pm

Some pics so far. Will do a bit more writing later. I would like a flat bonnet, but it won't be possible without cuting the Bulkhead down. I don't have time at the present for that.. Have some Blackout markers coming, I will make these into either Indicators or side lights. I have managed to get some old side lights to sit on the Fenders. These then will be either sidelights or Indicators.
I have to remove Fan on the engine and put on the Top pulley. It is at present in the middle of the Engine so I can't fabricate fixings on the new grill for the Radiator. If it is taking to long I can still revert back to my original Brave Configuration. I am reluctant to mod my existing bonnet for the time being. The delux version may be hard to get, I don't know and there is some making-up on the sides of the new grill. The delux Bonnet seems to be about an 1" gap each side on the new grill. The old style straight bonnet is a closer fit for the new willys grill from Jeep Parts UK. As in picture, I needed to cut about 4 1/4" from front to nothing to get it to sit on the grill.

Hope this is of interest lads. Will put some more pics up soon.

Cheers Kerry :good:

Trying old lid, cut 41/2" to nothing, fits fair for the width of Willys grill. Not to sure yet. May look OK with trim and paint.

With original Delux lid, but to wide.

Bit of Welding, same other side.

Looking good... nice job! :good:

Understandable that the riser (3rd pic down) rots out there. I had to make a new one for mine but, it allowed me to use steel that is a bit thicker so in theory it should last longer.
