Kerrys Jeep work done so far and new pics

Post by magnarider0 » Tue Jun 04, 2013 11:59 pm

Some more pics as promised. the work never seems to end, but its getting there. Have some plans for the rear lights later. I noticed a discussion on exhaust down pipes on the register. I am making this stainless one at present, but the bits ain't cheep. I think it will look good when it's polished up and cleaned up though. Hope this is of intrest to you guys. It's great to see all the ideas on here and helps with my own project. You can see the slopy hood. I don't mind it for now it looks different and better with the cover off, more cutting later maybe.!

Cheers Kerry (magnarider0)

Having problems with the telephone box, incompatible metals for welding. I am on a serious note, not doing to well with the Injector pump and can't get it to run at present. Had it fire twice for 20 seconds, but no fuel at injectors.

Thanks for your reply Kev...

I recon I've tried it all that I can think of anyway... Not had a lot of experience on these small pumps and you can't really strip them and set them up..
The Guy from where I got the NEW Starter Motor recons it's still air in the pump. I hope so... I've tried gravity feed, new Filter head and pump, plugs out of the pump that I can find, cranked it with heater plugs out, you name it.

Got the Guy from ABM coming over this week, cleaver chap, but wants to see it in situ first. Is the drive to the pump knackered?? No diesel at all at the injectors at present.. Hoping to get it running and continue to get it back on the road and use it soon. :beg:

Bleed it all the way to the pump, then crack open the nuts on the injectors, keep turning the engine over whilst pumping the filter primer to see if you get fuel. if still no fuel go back and check for porus fuel lines or badly seated filter rubber seals drawing in air.
As Kev said the shut off solinoid maybe your culprit either not working or blocked.
The pump is gear driven from the timing case so unlikely to be knackered there. :banghead:

Thanks cheiftain, for your help and feedback.

I've tried your ideas also and although the Shutoff v/v is working, I have temporarily removed the internals to improve my odds. I could be drawing in some air, but there's a lot of diesel around and the priming pump is solid like I could not get any more in there. I can pump diesel out the return union from the injector pump to when priming. I met a bloke today in a Diesel type place down the road, he said his mate just had a similar old CAV pump rebuilt and that they can go/fail in an instant if they've been hanging around.
I've still got this guy coming hopefully this week, but if not I'll move on with two more contacts. In the mean time any more ideas and input is always appreciated from you guys..
