MOT testers manual

Post by Alan » Mon May 14, 2012 11:39 pm

See Here for the current MOT testers manual.

Very Very useful for checking what is and is not acceptable for MOT purposes and perhaps its best use, putting stupid MOT testers in their place. :good:

PLEASE NOTE - The above link is the MOT only. There are also construction and use regulations that must be adhered to. These are a mandatory set of rules covering vehicle build standards and acceptable use.

The lines between the two can be blurred, for example, until recently tyres protruding past your bodywork was NOT an MOT failure. As it wasn't a specific check in the MOT manual, the tester couldn't fail you for it.

But the C & U regs state clearly that tyres must be covered by your bodywork (or extensions of it). As a result if you get stopped by the Police and they are clued up, they will prosecute you even though you just passed an MOT test ....

Construction and Use regs HERE

If you suffer from insomnia you will find this very useful
