Reverse Gear.

Post by Phil. » Wed Sep 10, 2014 7:20 pm

Hey guys, I noticed today that selecting reverse gear was a problem. I had to lift my foot of the clutch feel for the teeth then press back on the pedal to engage. I haven't check the oil for sometime. Anybody come across this before. Any ideas?
Thanks. :hello:

1: Check for clutch drag, everything in the box is turning one way and reverse is opposite direction,
2: possibly a dry box, but go with 2 first.
The journey isn't about departing in a well preserved body - but rather to skid in sideways - totally worn out - shouting HOLY SHIT WHAT A RIDE!!!!

Hi Chief and folks, finally managed to take a look at my gearbox today. The problem appears to be something knackered in the bolt spring and ball setup on the side of the box. Here;

Hard to see but there is a ball bearing running in the groove down there and with the bolt and spring removed I can select reverse with no problem. However, if I put it back in beyond this level something catches, (like it's gone in too far) and prevents full travel of the shift lever to the right.

Here's the bolt and spring. There was a slight burr on the outer edge which I smoothed off. That didn't do anything though. :no:

And finally da, daaa. Any ideas on what this grub screw does? I ask purely because it had come loose and was weeping oil. :scratch:

Thanks guy's.

PS. It's been real quiet of late. Hope you folks are all well. :hello:
