Fan on the CJ340

Post by Iron Horse » Sat Jan 09, 2016 1:53 pm

Can anyone tell me the ins and outs of replacing the existing fan on a CJ340?

I do not yet know what's happened, but somehow the fan started hitting the shroud above it.

sounds like time to chuck an electric fan into the mix, inertia fans are dam expensive & not easy to get now for the mindy.
The journey isn't about departing in a well preserved body - but rather to skid in sideways - totally worn out - shouting HOLY SHIT WHAT A RIDE!!!!

I have found one, courtesy of Stephen, on Ebay.

Right now I am looking for the simplest option - down the track I think the electric fan is the go.

Thinking about it - there are a couple of things that might cause the fan hit the shroud -

either -

- the engine is pointing upwards a little - possibly the gearbox and transfercase mountings have collapsed?

- the shroud is bent or not fitted correctly,

- the engine mounts are loose or knackered - and you bounced over a kerb or similar, causing the fan to hit the shroud.

might be worth checking them while the new fan is on the way.
