Steering box adjustment

Post by monsterc10 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:48 am

i've only just noticed that in the jeep servicing section there is no mention of adjustment of the steering box  a very good description of adjustment of the drag links etc . so i just thought i would mention that to take the free play out of the steering wheel , all you have to do is slacken off the large locking nut on the side of the steering box so the adjuster screw can be turned , adjust the screw in untill there is no free play ( do not fasten the screw up tight ) then tighten the lock nut making sure the adjuster screw doesnt move ( helps to use a stubby screw driver at this stage ) thats it job done . It's just like doing a landrover steering box but with the adjuster screw on the side and not on the top . hope this helps :good:

Alan i dont mind and wouldnt take any offence if you would like to re-write this and use it in the jeep service section as your choice of words and grammer would in no doubt be better than my effort :good: ;) :)
