The manufacturers have quoted an acceptable price but the Zinc Plates quote should arrive in next few days, so looking like this month for new stock to arrive !

The Zinc bloke was asking more than the plate maker ! So unless I hear howls of protests 'plating is orf' the menu which means half price plates !

Now a source for Suzi Calipers for £4.49 delivered anyone ? *LOL*

Hi Tim

Some time ago I bought from you the plates for the disk brake conversion.

Can the plates be used for Rover or the Suzuki parts?

Can you please also let me know what parts you supply and how much?

Can I use the same plates for the front and the rear?

Regards
Spiros

If Tim is out of stock try www.fastfixdirect.co.uk for both 3/8" x 1 1/2" and M12 x 25 bolts

They have both the above in stock at the moment. Minimum order quantites are boxes of 100 etc. which can get pricey but clubbing together would make it cheaper.

Please bear in mind when buying fixings for disk convertions the bolts need to be High Tensile 8.8 minimum, and preferably 10.9 graded steel.

Good point!! Thanks for pointing that out :good:

The UNF bolts sold by fastfixdirect are 'Grade S' which I assume is not a high enough grade by the sound of it.

I've been pestering fastfixdirect all week about bolts. Graham in their sales department has the patience of a saint :preach: .

They only have off the shelf the grade S 3/8" bolts. Metric equivalent is 8.8 HTS. They will buy in 12.9 grade UNF bolts the right size, but, they are socket head not hex on 2-3 day delivery. Looking at the pictures that Alan has posted the extra depth of a socket head looks like it may foul the edge of the hub. Not got anything to offer up to check, sorry. Minimum order is 100 and expensive for something that may not fit  .

My personal opinion is, and most probably wrong, that the 8.8's would be up to the job. The weakest link in the assembly is the two bolts that hold the caliper to the plate. I would think these would sheer well before the 6 bolts on the axle or the plate buckling. M12 is only about 1/8th" thicker than 3/8" after all.

Anyway, waffle waffle. I'm going to take a punt on the S grade bolts. There will be the other 76 up for grabs if anyone needs them!

8.8 will do the job ok.

I always tend to over spec on My Mod's as I know the Ruff work that I used to put them to. :this:

Appreciate the reassurance I wasn't talking rubbish on the bolts :hello: always good to have an experts opinion :good:

I'm ordering the bolts next week and come payday a set of plates and hoses etc. from Tim if he still has any stock left. If anyone needs bolts, let me know I'll work out the price on a kit at cost I won't be trying to make any profit on them.

One thing I wasn't quite clear on, do the hubs need machining down to fit the discs??

As a rule, yes. It just depends on which version you have as to which bit needs machining.

Have a look on my post about fitting discs HERE It shows the two different types of hub side by side :good:
