Site crash

Post by Alan » Sat Apr 14, 2018 4:42 pm

As you all know the site has been down for a few days.

This was due to a database error and an email config error.

The database is fixed and the website is now functioning normally.

The email error was specific to my email (webmaster@). The system forwarder that I use was corrupting and filing any email I was sent in the last several weeks (possibly longer). I don't get that many emails from the site so hadn't noticed that I wasn't getting any at all

If anyone has emailed me through the site email and hasn't had a reply, my apologies but I never received it. If it was important, send again, the system is fixed.

Alan.

hmmm, it seems the email system is working but the user interface is showing a white page and putting white text on it
I shall investigate :mod:

OK, this is a bit odd, the email form is fighting back and refusing to display correctly even thought the coding is telling it to display black ....

As you can now see I've updated the whole forum with a new set of clothes and this is still happening

I'll see if this is a common error as I can't see whats causing it right now.

HI Kev,
the email server has clearly had issues for a while and is still not running properly.
There seems to be a mismatch between the sites coding and the server.
I'm testing behind the scenes but can't get the coding error to reveal itself.
I think my next step might be a complete reset of the server and the software.
I don't really want to do that unless I have to because we stand a good chance of losing all the old posts due to the database being a mismatch to the new software architecture.
